Katrina, Katrina

The destruction is unprecedented for a hurricane and the human suffering is one tragic event stacked on top another. Not only do I have friends that have lost everything, they must face chemotherapy in a new and unfamiliar place. One of my fellow Republican Women, who lost everything was in a horrible automobile accident the Wednesday after the storm and is very ill.
Most, if not all of us, walk around with a sort of dazed look about us.

It has almost been a month since this extreme hurricane, we named Katrina, devastated our part of the world. "Normal" is still a long way off.

Please pray the rosary and offer it up for the people I mentioned above.

Thank you and God bless,
Penny

Cleaning Up After Katrina

We are exhausted...the cleaning up process is huge. Where all the debris will go is beyond anyone's comprehension. Things are slow and the trucks taking all of the downed tree debris has just arrived on our street today.

We still consider ourselves blessed as so many people we know have lost EVERYTHING!!!!

Please keep the entire region, from New Orleans to Mobile in your prayers.

Thank you and God bless,
Penny

In Remembrance of 911 Patriots Day

Today is the fourth year since the terrorists attacked our great nation. It is a time to remember those who were lost and their families. Please pray for everyone in our country and those who continue to fight for our freedom in places where freedom is suppressed.

911 has special meaning in our family because my oldest son and I were in Mid-town Manhattan when the attacks happened. It was a very frightening experience, one that will live in the memory of our family for generations.

We thank our good Lord for everything and we pray the rosary for peace.

God bless America,
Penny

Life After Katrina

For all of you who regularly view my blog, you may have noticed the long delay between posts. Due to Hurricane Katrina, we were without electricity for the last two weeks.

We are more fortunate than most because our home sustained very little damage. But our community as a whole has had to deal with a tremendous amount of wind damage, mostly fallen and snapped pine trees. We had no flooding, as we are well inland.

We remained in our home during the storm as did most of our neighbors. The sound of the wind during the storm was that of jet engines. As the trees broke and fell, we could actually smell the scent of pine. The eye passed right over us.

It has been an exhausting experience, but we have had the help of the National Guard and The Convoy of Hope. These good people have sustained us with water, ice and food, making this time bearable.

Right now I am going to enjoy the AC and watch a movie.

I pray that all who have been affected by this devastating storm will find peace in the good Lord, knowing that we can all move forward from here. Even though our lives have been changed, we can adapt.

Nice to be back, take care,
Penny
